Ian Marchant
Born 1970, Ian Marchant graduated from High Wycombe in 1991
with a BA (hons) first class honours degree in three dimensional design, specialising in furniture.
In the same year he joined Boss Design and over the following twelve
years developed an in depth knowledge of the contract seating market.
Involved in all aspects of the design and manufacturing process,
from concept to production, it gave him an understanding of materials and processes
enabling him to produce distinctive yet commercial designs for the Boss Design range
as well as bespoke products for the end user, including operator chairs,
stacking/conference seating, breakout and fully upholstered seating.
In 2003 he became a freelance designer and established Formula Furniture,
applying his knowledge and rational approach to problem solving to design and develop products for a wide range of contemporary seating manufacturers.
